The Young Learners division of English Teachers marked a notable milestone on Saturday, November 8, with the successful launch of its first linguistic immersion session led by Professor John Ciulik, a student in the Master of TESOL program at California State University, Long Beach. Ciulik, who holds a master’s degree in American Studies and a TEFL certification, brought both academic rigor and industry-level insight to an experience designed to accelerate students’ real-world communication skills.
A New Benchmark in Early Talent Development
The immersion class is the first in a planned series aimed at preparing the next generation of globally competent leaders. Rather than functioning as a traditional lesson, the session operated as a live simulation of international interaction—an increasingly essential skill in education, business, and public leadership.
Young Learners students engaged directly with a native speaker in a dynamic, unscripted environment, demonstrating the communication strategies they have built over the past year. Their performance reflected not only linguistic growth but also the confidence and adaptability expected from future professionals in an interconnected world.
Validating a Year of Pedagogical Investment
Guided by Danitza Lazcano, CEO and lead educator of the Young Learners program, the students have spent the year building a strong academic foundation in English. The immersion class served as a critical performance indicator of that investment.
“Watching students interact fluently and confidently with Professor Ciulik was tremendously rewarding,” Lazcano noted. “They demonstrated that sustained curiosity and disciplined effort remain the strongest predictors of communicative success.”
Students navigated the initial cognitive jump of engaging with a native accent—often seen as a key barrier for early learners—with ease and enthusiasm. Their participation confirmed the program’s core premise: achievement in language learning is directly linked to consistent practice and an active intellectual mindset.
Positioning for Future Growth
The success of this first session underscores the academy’s commitment to elevating educational experiences that prepare young people for global opportunities. As part of a broader strategic initiative, the immersion series will continue to offer students high-impact interactions that mirror the demands of future academic and professional environments.
For the Young Learners cohort, this milestone is more than a classroom achievement—it is the beginning of a long-term trajectory toward leadership, international competence, and lifelong learning.
Congratulations to all the students for setting a strong precedent for the year ahead.
