The 2026 Business Matchmaking event at the Special Development Zone of Ilo, Peru, provided a platform for Chilean and Peruvian entrepreneurs to exchange business experiences and product information, strengthening cross-border commercial ties.
Marcos Lagos, founder and chief executive officer of Grupo Anglo-Saxon, presented the academy’s corporate mission, emphasizing a commitment to high educational standards alongside learner satisfaction. Lagos highlighted the importance of preparing individuals not only in English proficiency but also in soft-skills development to compete effectively in a globalized economy.
He added that continuous learning and critical thinking were essential drivers for the development of new products and services, as well as for improving operational processes and enhancing customer experience.
Addressing the topic of innovation, Lagos remarked that innovation “goes far beyond placing a sticker on a product to make it look modern,” drawing laughter from the audience. He concluded by defining innovation as the ability to solve a customer’s real problem while creating emotional connection, arguing that companies must inspire customers to fall in love with their brands and sustain that connection over time by continuously improving the customer experience.
The event concluded with a guided visit to Ilo’s port, where the port’s management showcased its facilities and outlined its potential role as a strategic logistics hub on the Pacific Ocean.
